Dan the Manga Man

This is Dan and he’s quite the character. He sells Manga on the bridge at Ichigaya, where I found myself at lunch time on my quest to visit the Yushukan military museum in the grounds of the controversial Yasukuni-jinja shrine. It’s a very beautiful place and I sat for almost an hour on a bench beside the little lake with dozens of Koi the size of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s forearms, while the birds picked off the insects flying around and the only sound was the small waterfall and the occasional splash from the Koi.

The pictures really don’t do it justice! Definitely worth a visit, and the military museum is fascinating too.

After that, I went to Harujuku on the recommendation of a Twitter friend, Claire, who suggested I try the Kyushu Jangara Ramen shop – well, I fell right off the sensible-eating wagon! I even had a beer as it was so warm. Delicious!

Harujuku has even trendier people than Shibuya! Check out the pictures for more, but I even ran into an English bloke in Japanese traditional costume.

Lastly, on my way to breakfast this morning, I spotted this woman with her dogs IN A STROLLER!
